Mojo Concerts
Begin jaren ‘90 waren The Charlatans toonaangevend in het zogenaamde Madchestergenre. Deze in Manchester ontstane muziekstroming, waartoe ook de Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays en A Guy Called Gerald toe gerekend werden, mixte voor het eerst indierock met dansmuziek, waarbij de Rolling Stones, jaren ‘60 psychedelica, dans en funk zware invloed uitoefenden. Tijdens het Britpoptijdperk bleek de band na een gewaande zachte dood ineens weer uitermate actueel en het album ‘The Charlatans UK’ kwam aan de overkant op nummer 1 uit in de hitlijst. Ondertussen is de mix van elektronica en gitaargeweld schering en inslag in muziekland en gelden The Charlatans als echte rock survivors.
