Songs:Ohia

Songs:Ohia raakt ons al jaren. De combinatie met Steve Albini hadden we echter niet zien aankomen. Zeker niet met Jason Molina's jongste album 'The Magnolia Electric Co.' dat zich op het kruispunt bevindt van klassieke rock, blanke soul, swamprock en een soort van outlaw country. Meteen het meest up tempo album dat we van Songs: gehoord hebben. Zoals Molina zelf het album omschrijft: "We're going for a sort of 1950's sound, ancient echo techniques on the voxs, doo wop back up singers, dirty guitars". Alsof je plots een willekeurige Neil Young plaat beluistert. En, hoeft dit nog gezegd: Songs: Ohia is uiteraard een Duyster-favoriet.
