Explosions in the Sky is een Amerikaanse post-rockband, in de stijl van Mogwai en Godspeed You! Black Emperor, afkomstig uit Austin, Texas, en opgericht in 1999. Nadat Temporary Residense Records de helft van hun demo "How Strange, Innocence" had beluisterd lag het contract voor de neus van de bandleden. Hun tweede album, "Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever" baarde opzien, niet alleen vanwege de tentoongespreide muzikale kwaliteiten, maar ook vanwege geruchten dat het een link zou hebben met de aanslagen op 11 september, die kort daarna plaatsvonden. De band schreef ook soundtracks en een aantal van hun nummers zijn gebruikt in commercials.
