The Black Atlantic is een Groningse akoestische pop band rondom Geert van der Velde. Het eerste optreden was op Eurosonic in 2007. Het debuutalbum "Reverence for Fallen Trees" komt uit in 2009 en is wereldwijd gratis te downloaden. Het album wordt zo'n 100.000 keer gedownload. De Nederlandse band heeft al meerdere keren in Europa en ook Amerika getourd. Het nieuwe album heet "Darkling, I listen".
