Mr Dark Horse brings an adventurous mix of melancholy with solid rock. Inspired by Silverchair, Incubus, Tool and The Mars Volta, the band’s musical style lies somewhere between power pop, grunge and progressive metal. Mr Dark Horse is the alter ego of Dutch songwriter Ruud van Diepen. After graduating from the Conservatory of Amsterdam as a drummer in 2010, Ruud took on the role of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist to perform his own material. On 19 September 2015, they began their current tour, performing at venues including Volta (Amsterdam), De Paap (The Hague), P3 (Purmerend), P60 (Amstelveen) and at the festivals BoNoZeKa, Eurosjopper and the Hoornse Stadsfeesten. On 3 September 2016, the band performed on the main stage at the Zomerpop festival, joining established Dutch acts such as De Staat, Fresku and The Brahms. Mr Dark Horse released their debut EP on 24 September 2016.
