Uncle Vernon is a Tom Waits tribute band, born in 2013. The band was originated in order to perform at the international 'Stray Dogs Gathering' in the Netherlands in July 2013. The Stray Dogs are an underground worldwide connection of Waits followers, and the 2013 gathering took place in a Waits-worthy Dutch boathouse. Surrounded by old ships on trailers, garage gear and smells of rusting steel and diesel-oil... a truly legendary night.
Sailing on, the band played many gigs throughout the Netherlands, e.g. in The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Leiden. With big success, also for audiences not so familiar with Tom Waits. The quality of the songs and sympathetic performance by Uncle Vernon have proven to be a great combo.
