Rembetiko, also known as the Greek blues, came to prominence at the same time as jazz. George Dalaras, himself the son of a well-known rembetiko artist, was one of the genre’s innovators. In 1974, Dalaras worked with the legendary Mikis Theodorakis for the first time. With his exceptional voice and instrumental skills, the musician and singer has always been at the forefront of innovation in contemporary Greek music. Over 20 million albums sold, sold-out concert halls worldwide, enthusiastic critics and collaborations with Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, Paco de Lucia and Al Di Meola, among others, bear witness to the outstanding career of this musician.
