Pixar might suck up much of the oxygen in the world of animation but there's plenty of activity at the edges of the art form. Barry Doupe's computer animations look like technology on the verge of collapse, embodying narratives that surpass Lynchian machinations in the weird obtuse. Ponytail's babblefish German spouting characters lost in something which plays like a forgotten Fassbinder movie as performed by avatars from the Sims. It's a case where seeing is clearly necessary for believing.
