Slecht nieuws voor de vele fans van K-pop groep BTS. Vanwege de aanhoudende problemen met het corona-virus wordt de volledige BTS Map of the Soul tournee afgelast. Dit betekent dat ook het concert in de Kuip in Rotterdam niet doorgaat. Begin 2020 werd de tournee van BTS aangekondigd. Vanwege uitbraak van het coronavirus dat jaar, werd eerst de voorverkoop en daarna de datum van het concert uitgesteld. Nu gaat er definitief een streep door de tournee. Er zouden in totaal 38 concerten gegeven worden in Azië, Noord Amerika en Europa. Big Hit Music (het bedrijf achter BTS) verklaart: “Our company has worked hard to resume preparations for the BTS MAP OF THE SOUL TOUR, knowing that all fans have been waiting eagerly and long for the tour,” Big Hit said in the statement. “However, due to changing circumstances beyond our control, it has become difficult to resume performances at the same scale and timeline as previously planned. Therefore we must announce the cancellation of the BTS MAP OF THE SOUL TOUR.”
Het is de verwachting dat BTS hun enorme fanbase (ook wel het BTS ARMY genoemd) zal vermaken met livestreams. Dit deed BTS eerder al met enorm succes. Big Hit zegt: “We are working to prepare a viable schedule and performance format that can meet your expectations, and we will provide updated notices as soon as possible.”
